NEVA Bitch + Contre Jour

Formed in the early 1980s in Saint-Quentin, NEVA quickly established itself as one of the most singular projects on the French cold wave scene, led by Jacquy Bitch.

A major figure of the movement, he continued solo in the early 1990s, joined the European underground circuit, and toured in France and abroad, sharing bills with many post-punk, goth and industrial acts.

Today, to celebrate 50 years of career, Jacquy Bitch returns with NEVA BITCH – The Continuum: a project of assumed continuity — music still alive, crossing time without nostalgia, finding new resonance on stage. It is neither a reunion nor a step backward.

On stage, the songs are not replayed as archives. They are reinvested — taut, stripped back, driven by the same demand. The sound stays raw, minimal, direct. The set spans 50 years of creation across 12 songs in chronological order, from NEVA’s cold tension to Jacquy Bitch’s luminous madness.

Contre Jour, a French cold-wave / synth-pop band formed in Nice in 2009, blends haunting melodies and raw energy. Roxy (vocals), Christof (bass/synths) and Manu (guitars/backing vocals/synths) shape a sound where shadow and light collide.

After a ten-year pause, the trio is back — intact, instinctive, and more inspired than ever. Some ghosts refuse to fade.

As longtime fans of Neva and Jacquy Bitch’s career for more than twenty years, the trio considers it a true honour for Contre Jour to open the very first concert of the new Neva Bitch lineup.
